Carpet Cleaners E9 Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Carpet Cleaners E9 to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold fundamental human rights and to act with integrity and transparency in everything we do.
This statement applies to all employees, workers, contractors, and suppliers engaged by Carpet Cleaners E9. It covers the financial year ending 31 December and will be reviewed and updated annually.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Carpet Cleaners E9 operates a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery. We will not knowingly engage with or support any business, individual, or organisation involved in slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, or human trafficking. Any indication that such practices may be occurring triggers immediate investigation and, where necessary, termination of the relationship.
All staff are expected to act ethically and to report any concerns related to modern slavery. Management is responsible for ensuring that this commitment is clearly communicated and consistently enforced across the business.
Our Operations and Supply Chain
Our core business activities include carpet and upholstery cleaning services delivered to domestic and commercial customers. While the nature of our work is relatively low risk compared with some sectors, we recognise that modern slavery can exist in any industry, particularly within extended supply chains.
Our supply chain includes providers of cleaning products, equipment, uniforms, vehicle services, and occasionally agency labour. We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and who can demonstrate compliance with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are developing and maintaining supplier standards that require all suppliers to:
Comply with local and national employment legislation, including minimum wage, working hours, and health and safety requirements. Prohibit forced, bonded, or involuntary labour and ensure that workers are free to leave employment with appropriate notice. Prohibit child labour and ensure that all workers meet the legal minimum age for employment. Respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining where permitted by law.
To monitor compliance, we conduct proportionate supplier due diligence and audits. These may include requesting written confirmations of compliance, reviewing relevant policies and certifications, conducting on-site visits where appropriate, and assessing the use of subcontractors and labour agencies. Where non-compliance is identified, we will work with the supplier on a corrective action plan or, if necessary, end the relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery among our staff through induction briefings and periodic updates. Relevant employees, particularly those involved in purchasing and recruitment, receive guidance on identifying warning signs of exploitation and on how to escalate concerns.
Carpet Cleaners E9 encourages open communication and does not tolerate victimisation of anyone who raises a concern in good faith. Concerns about possible modern slavery or unethical labour practices can be reported to line managers or senior management. Reports may be made confidentially, and all concerns will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled with appropriate sensitivity.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process and that there is always room for improvement. Over the coming years, our priorities include strengthening supplier screening procedures, enhancing the depth and frequency of supplier audits, expanding staff training on human rights issues, and improving documentation of our checks and decisions.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and to ensure it reflects current risks, legal requirements, and best practice. Any necessary updates will be approved at a senior level and communicated to employees and key suppliers.
By publishing this statement, Carpet Cleaners E9 reaffirms its commitment to acting ethically, respecting human dignity, and working proactively to prevent modern slavery in all areas of our business.
